Photography, Writing & Connection
Finding a new way to sharing about my personal relationship with photography.
The majority of my photographic career revolved around writing. Along with penning half a dozen books on photography, I served as a magazine editor for three photography magazines. I contributed to nearly a dozen others over the past twenty years.
Unfortunately, virtually all the magazines I wrote for are gone. Professional and amateur photographers now turn online for camera reviews, tutorials, and regular inspiration. So, that part of my professional life is behind me.
Though my podcast, The Candid Frame, provides me a unique and special opportunity to stay connected to contemporary photography, I miss writing. It is a practice that fills me with as much joy as when I make photographs. So, rather than being saddened by the loss, I decided to use this platform to reinvent that part of my creative life.
As I did with my previous newsletter, I’ll continue to promote the latest episode of the podcast and suggest other valuable resources, including books, videos, and workshops. However, I intend to include personal essays reflecting my photography development.
I have benefited from many experiences and encounters, a fraction of which I have shared on the podcast, articles, and workshops. I hope sharing my creative journey here allows me to reach you and others in a more personal and enjoyable way.
With the podcast, I have prioritized the guests, infusing myself only so much as to help further the conversation. With this platform, I intend to share more of myself, my story, and my challenges in the hopes that, in some small way, it will help you on your path wherever that may lead you.
Thanks for coming along with me on this journey.
I'm so happy to find your podcast! Can't wait to go over all of the episodes :)!!
Man, can I relate to this. Nice to see you here, Ibarionex!
