I’m having such a hard time getting my mind around all this. I live about 10 minutes to the east of you in Monrovia and the loss is incredible. I’m so sorry what you and several of my close friends are all facing right now. What you said was so true, “until it wasn’t.” I think is how you said it. We were told we were going to have to evacuate so we packed up but never had to. That was a thought that had never crossed my mind. Praying for all of you as this feels overwhelming.

Martin and I are so sorry. This has made me think about what is precious and what we would grab in the event of a dire emergency and I find my mind just freezes at the prospect.
